    Social side of performance?

What separates high-performing knowledge workers from their more average peers? Superior ability is part of the answer, as is superior expertise. But what really distinguishes high performers from the rest of the pack is their ability to maintain and leverage personal networks that are rich in experience and span all organisational boundaries.

    Morning message…

To have more insights, have more fresh thoughts and less memory thoughts! And we need them both.

Bringing ideas to your customer’s hands!

When you think about the fast-moving, competitive economy, it’s not surprising that innovation has become a business buzzword. As companies roll out new products and services, consumers demand more. They want smarter phones or faster cars, and businesses need fresh ideas to stay in the game. Imagine if Apple rested on its achievement after producing its first iPod or iPhone, or if BMW never brought out any new models. Gadget fans and car lovers would soon go elsewhere.

Innovation is key to long-term corporate growth, but staying ahead of the field is about more than ideas. Give a room full of smart people some blank paper and coloured markers and they’re bound to come up with some fantastic concepts. But success lies in knowing how to get the brainwaves off the drawing board and onto the shelves or into the showrooms – and doing so without jeopardising the rest of the business.

Know What You Want . . . to Get What You Want

In quiet, reflective moments, most of us would acknowledge that there is missing from our lives, something half finished, something envisioned but never realized. This something usually relates to a disconnect between who we are and what we do, between what we want and what we have, or between what we set out to do and what we achieve. We sense that we are underachieving relative to our potential and promise.

One constant reminder of this failure is our inability to set and meet goals consistently, to make good on our resolutions, and to keep our promises and commitments to ourselves as well as others.

    Do you set goals?

Do you believe in setting goals

Do you know how to set goals?

Do you write them down and read them frequently?

Do you achieve many, if not most, of your goals?

    Delivering bad news?

Delivering bad news such as releases, demotions, is probably one of the hardest things leaders have to do. But as leaders, we can deliver bad news in a way that is respectful and allows people to retain their dignity. Anything less would not be leadership.

    How connected are you?

To keep pace with today’s connected customers, your company must become a connected company. That means deeply engaging with workers, partners, and customers, changing how work is done, how you measure success, and how performance is rewarded. It requires a new way of thinking about your company: less like a machine to be controlled, and more like a complex, dynamic system that can learn and adapt over time.

Connected companies have the advantage, because they learn and move faster than their competitors. While others work in isolation, they link into rich networks of possibility and expand their influence.

Connected companies around the world are aggressively acquiring customers and disrupting the competition. Offering another perspective on how companies must engage their employees, partners and customers if they are to survive in an environment of continuous change

If you cannot paint an idea you are a talker not a painter!

Suppose you know two artists. One tells you an idea for a great painting, but he does not paint it. The other has the same idea and paints it. You could easily say the second man is a great creative artist. But could you say the same thing of the first man? Obviously not. He is a talker, not a painter.

    Ideas without action is irresponsible!

Advocates of creativity must understand the pressing facts of the executive’s life: Every time an idea is submitted to him, it creates more problems for him—and he already has enough. Yet innovation is necessary in business—and innovation begins with somebody’s proposal. What is the answer for the man with a new idea? #NPx.
