    Motivation as an Attitude!

Most leaders know what strong motivation looks like.

When I ask leadership development workshop participants to describe the type of motivation they’d like to see in their teams, they mention qualities such as persistence, being a self-starter, having a sense of accountability for and commitment to achieving results, and being willing to go the extra mile on projects or to help other team members. A more of a trusted leadership?

But many leaders have little idea of how to boost or sustain that level of motivation, how to add more trust into their everyday interactions. They don’t understand that they are an integral part of the motivational ecosystem in their companies or societies…

Design Thinking: The New Way To Do School!

    What is design thinking?

“Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer’s toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.”

    design-thinking-phases

    It is a mindset

Design Thinking is the confidence that everyone can be part of creating a more desirable future, and a process to take action when faced with a difficult challenge. That kind of optimism is well needed in education.

Classrooms and schools across the world are facing design challenges every single day, from teacher feedback systems to daily schedules. Wherever they fall on the spectrum of scale – the challenges educators are confronted with are real, complex, and varied. And as such, they require new perspectives, new tools, and new approaches. Design Thinking is one of them.

Design thinking starts by imagining alternative futures.

Design thinking raises new issues and opportunities for school and system leaders.

Through an iterative process, design thinking seeks solutions that are desirable, viable and feasible.

Set leadership development goals for your group or organisation!

    performance

Set leadership development goals for your group or organisation!

To start, think about the group you have right now, and compare it to what you envision your ideal leadership team to be. What are the strengths of your group, and how do they fit in with your vision? What are its difficulties?

Comparing your vision to the reality of your group, you can determine the areas for which your group as a whole can use leadership development. Do people need to increase their awareness of diversity issues? Do they need help in working together as a team?

Once you’ve identified these areas of need, choose specific goals to address those areas. For example, if everyone needs to improve facilitation skills, figure out a list of priorities for who needs to learn what kind of facilitation skills. Then set up a training that will help you reach your goals.

    Building leadership in politics.

In working to improve our communities, leadership is our most important resource. It is the engine that pulls the train.

If you are involved in any group or organization, you will need to develop leadership in order to accomplish anything of significance.

Why? Because it is leaders who make things happen. It is leaders who have a vision, take initiative, influence people, make proposals, organize logistics, solve problems, follow-up, and – most of all – take responsibility.

    Finding the balance…

As achievers, do we all seek balance while striving for success?

Does it happen that while we may be succeeding in one area of our life, another area could be lacking?

How do we then find our balance between fulfillment and achievement?

“A sports approach to achieve business goals”

    superread_activate_web
Nowhere is goal setting more widely embraced than in the area of sport, and there are some aspects of goal setting that business can learn from sport. Within the world of sport, it is generally accepted that there are three types of goals:
    • Outcome goals (the “why”).
    • Performance goals (the “what”).
    • Process goals (the “how”).
Outcome goals relate to the big picture, the overall aim, the goal that really motivates and provides the “why.”
Performance goals relate to the measures that will need to be achieved to give you or your organisation the best chance of success (i.e. “what[…]”
Process goals relate to the specifics of “how” you or your organisation will achieve the performance goals, which in turn will provide the best chance of achieving the outcome goals.
